Baxi Gas Boiler Repairs
Article by Jenny Pilley
In layman’s terms a non-working gas boiler will leave your home cold and without hot water. In this situation finding a qualified and competitively priced plumber in an emergency can be difficult – especially one with the expertise to deliver repairs on a wide selection of manufacturers of gas boilers.
The Baxi range of gas boilers is widely regarded as being among the best in the industry. They merit energy efficiency alongside renewable heating solutions, with climate change high up on their agenda. If your Baxi boiler requires repair work, it makes sense to contact a team that is experienced in dealing with that particular brand.
Some reputable firms can repair and maintain your Baxi combi and traditional gas boilers, and carry a selection of spare and replacement parts which ensures they are able to fix many breakdowns on their first visit.
Always contract a plumber that offers a 24/7 call-out service, to guarantee that you are not left in the lurch for too long. In fact, some will strive to be on your doorstep within the hour in the London area – critical for keeping you warm in winter month and restoring a sense of order to your domestic life once again.
The importance of a Gas Safe Registered plumber should not be underestimated. This is the governing body that replaced Corgi in April 2009, and sets the exacting professional standards that qualified plumbers need to abide by.
Gas-Safe plumbers are regularly vetted and tested to ensure they are competent and their standards remain high. Many rogue traders are available of course, but they won’t provide the safe level of service that is paramount.
Safety when working with gas is essential. Around fifty people a year die from Carbon Monoxide poisoning – not a massive amount, but easily preventable. As many as 200 will suffer serious health problems annually too. The main concern is that this noxious gas is undetectable, and could be wreaking havoc in your property without you even knowing.
The message is clear – ensure your Baxi gas boiler is maintained and repaired by a fully-trained and knowledgeable plumbing team. It’s never worth taking a gamble on the health of yourself and your family.

Contractor for Plumbing
Article by Alfred Ardis
Possibly an overlooked yet essential part of having a home built is having good plumbing. Without good plumbing your home could be destroyed very quickly. As you are having your home built you may or may not have a general contractor helping you. Whether or not you do, you will want to make sure that the plumbing contractor that is used in your home will have many years of experience, continuing education, and a respect for you and your property.
Plumbers may have gotten a bad reputation over the years, but their job is one of high importance. As your home is built it is important that the plumbing be designed well for the correct functioning of your plumbing system. In order to help guarantee that you will be getting the service you desire, you might want to look at companies that offer quite a few years of experience. Experience is so important for a couple of reasons. A company that has been around for a while can be assumed to be one that people respect or it would not be in business. Those years of experience will also help the owners to learn how to treat people and also how to do their job even better.
You might not have ever thought about a plumber continuing his or her education, but it is important. As with so many other areas, plumbing has changed over the years as well. It is a good idea to look for a plumbing contractor who is involved in continuing education in his or her field.
Respect for you and your property are also important. This is something that you can find out about by going online and looking at complaints in reviews. It is important that a plumbing contractor respect both you and your property. Even though they know more about it than you do, you might have some knowledge that they do not. If they do feel you are making a poor decision when it comes to plumbing, they should be able to humbly explain the problem with respect. A plumber can respect your home by working in a clean manner. Some of the plumbing will be done after some of the home furnishings are in. At this stage it is especially important for the plumbers to clean up after themselves.
There are other considerations you will probably make as you look for a plumber, but you would do well to consider the above thoughts along with your own. Hopefully you or you and your general contractor will be able to find a plumber that will meet your plumbing needs in an exceptional way.

When looking for plumbing London
Article by mubashir ali
If you live in London, search on the internet or rifle through a telephone directory, and chances are you will find that the section for London plumbing will be larger than most. To this day, London remains the most populated city in the European Union, but previously it was even more populated -until as late as 1957, London was the most populated city on the planet.Due to the high number of people living in London plumbing was in high demand. In pre-war years, the capital was home to 8.5 million people. A great number of the homes these people lived in had piping which was used for drinking and washing water. More people meant more plumbing systems and therefore more London plumbing companies were required to maintain them.It was Sir Joseph William Bazalgette, a civil servant, who stepped forward in the mid-1800s to improve and modernize these wageand plumbing London systems by making a huge investment in the systems. Bazalgette, who was championed by fellow engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, pioneer of British railway engineering, opened the new system in response to the miasma or “foul air” caused by poor sewageand plumbingLondon systems. It was this that was thought to have caused a spate of cholera epidemics in the city throughout the mid-1800s. When planning the system, Bazalgette said, “Well we’re only going to do this once, and there’s always the unforeseen.” to this day, the system Bazalgette had originally designed is still in use.The invention of the flush toilet was famously discovered by plumber Thomas Crapper, whose patented U-bend siphoning system in the late 19th Century revolutionized London plumbing. Crapper was also said to have installed toilets for Queen Victoria. The manhole covers in Westminster have the Thomas Crapper & company name written on them, and are a minor tourist attraction. It is widely thought that Crapper’s name was the origin for the word “crap”, however there are a number of theories which dispute this, one being that the word is of Middle English origin, and another being that the world is an etymological combination of two older words; the Dutch “krappen” meaning to separate or pick off, and the French “crappe”, a derivative of the Latin word “crappa”, meaning to dispose of waste. The demand for plumbers remains high, and considering many properties are older buildings and therefore their plumbing London systems are not as modern as some, this means that they might require extra or specialist maintenance. When looking for plumbing London appears to be the obvious location to look at, as so many of the tecniques which are either used today or which led to further developments were the catalysts for the modern London plumbing methods of today.

Northeast Technical Institute Partners with E-Conn to offer HVAC/R Students Real-World Field Experience
Northeast Technical Institute Partners with E-Conn to offer HVAC/R Students Real-World Field Experience
Bangor, ME (PRWEB) January 15, 2011
Since 2008, Northeast Technical Institute (NTI) has trained and certified nearly 200 HVAC/R students at its Scarborough campus. In just under five months of hands-on training and earning national certifications, many of NTI’s graduates are now earning good pay and benefits working with some of the area’s top HVAC/R companies including Johnson & Jordan, Miller Refrigeration, Air-Temp, Solaris, AAA Energy and more. With such positive results, it was no surprise that NTI decided to offer its first HVAC/R class to the Bangor community this past November.
NTI offers a variety of training programs at its Bangor campus located on Stillwater Avenue including Medical Assistant, Medical Coding and Billing, Professional Tractor Trailer Driving (CDL A), and more. But HVAC/R training requires a specialized training area because of the training equipment, as well as proper ventilation for heating and refrigeration/air-conditioning units. Therefore, NTI’s HVAC/R training facility was built to specifications and is located at the Danforth’s Plaza on Route 2 in Hermon. The new training facility allows students to install, repair and operate a variety of HVAC/R systems.
In addition to offering training at its shop, NTI students are taking weekly field trips with NTI training partner E-Conn, Inc. Each week, students are gaining real life knowledge and skills in installation and repair through the internship program with E-Conn, Inc. Students analyze blueprints, install air handlers, gas fired condensing furnaces, gas piping, and complete duct work. David St. Germain, Maintenance Manager at E-Conn said, “We find that NTI students are exceptionally well trained and prepared for their internship. And most importantly, these students are gaining invaluable experience through this internship and it will give them the foundation they need to get a jump-start in their new careers upon graduation at NTI.”
Recently, the class completed a field trip in Monroe to install a wood boiler for a home owner. This gave the students a new outlook on hydronic systems with a solid fuel back up. “To have the hands on experience instead of just reading about it and seeing pictures was great” says NTI student, Sean Clegg. He continued to describe this field trip as being very informative for the class and described the building owner as very enthused to be giving the class the opportunity.
Fellow student Terry Dauphine explains this training as “extremely important and to be able to work with customers is a major part of this field. You need to be able to work with small businesses and large corporations”. Terry explains that installing these systems allows them to see the every day difficulties that may arise in on-the-job settings.
NTI offers its next HVAC/R class on April 11, 2011. To register, contact the Admissions Department at 800.447.1151 (limited seating available).
About Northeast Technical Institute
NTI is a private post-secondary school and is nationally accredited by the Council on Occupation Education (COE). With two campuses in Maine and one in Massachusetts, it is the mission of NTI to dedicate itself to providing each student comprehensive training and career support services; continue to develop the highest quality, short-term educational programs that gives each student the necessary skills to obtain employment upon graduation; recognize the importance of every student’s learning needs and provide individual assistance to help the student achieve his/her goals.
NTI offers a variety of certificate and career diploma courses in addition to the HVAC/R program including Allied Health, Information Technology, HVAC/R, Green Energy Technician, and Professional Transportation. NTI offers these courses in multiple formats including instructor led training, online learning and a combination of the two. NTI has graduated and helped to place thousands of students since it was founded in 1995.

All domestic appliances are rated according to their energy efficiency with A being the best and G the worst, you can use this handy database from British Gas to discover how efficient your own boiler is. Substantial savings in £’s and CO2 can be acheived by replacing inefficient boilers with A rated ones. This table shows the efficiency ratings of the kind of boilers we have replaced with Viessman units (which are as high as 95% efficient!), and the subsequent savings per installation. The majority of this work has been completed for the Health Through Warmth scheme in the Vale of Glamorgan. The scheme is designed to provide vulnerable people with improved or brand new heating systems, as well as building insulation and other efficiency measures to keep their costs as low as possible. Now help is available for the vulnerable in all areas of the country as Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Chris Huhne, has announced that the Warm Front scheme has been restarted with a fund of £110m. The remaining hot water requirement is provided by the boiler.Solar panels harness the power in both direct and diffused sunlight and convert the energy to heat for the production of hot water for the home. The solar panels have been designed as a complement to existing heating systems which use a store of hot water in a cylinder. The existing cylinder is exchanged for a cylinder with two heat exchanger coils; one from the boiler in the property and a second from the solar panels.Depending on where you purchased your boiler, you will need to hire a trained professional to install your boiler correctly. If you bought your boiler directly from the manufacturer or from a business, you will most likely have to track down an engineer yourself, but if you have chosen to buy through a company that also installs, they may cover installation in the price of the boiler, or provide you with a trusted engineer that has installed the type of boiler you have purchased for an extra fee.

British Gas Offering an Additional
British Gas Offering an Additional £100 Off Gas Boiler Installation
(PRWEB) February 23, 2011
British Gas are encouraging new and existing customers to offset the cost rises of the freezing weather by replacing boilers over 10 years old with a new A rated boiler. The latest boiler technology offers a 90% increase in rated efficiency, meaning that upgrading your G-rated boiler should see your household heating bill drop by about a quarter, an average saving of £225 a year.
With the price of an A rated boiler and install at its lowest since 2008, British Gas are also offering further money-saving incentives to make the switch. Alongside a £50 online discount, until the 28th February customers can also take benefit of an extra £100 off a new boiler. Flexible payment options are on offer to help spread the cost of your upgrade and all new boilers also come with 1 year free insurance with British Gas HomeCare.
There’s never been a better time to invest in an A rated boiler, but will a conventional, combination or dual energy system best suit your household?
Ecogen – Dual Energy System converts heat into cheap electricity
Ecogen can generate up to 46% of your electricity needs, producing enough electricity per hour to power ten 20W light bulbs, your TV, computer and washing machine. The government are also offering extra incentives to invest in an Ecogen boiler; the Feed-in-Tariff pays you 10p for every kW of electricity the boiler generates and an additional 3p per kW for any unused that you feed back to the national grid.
Considerations: Dual Energy Systems are currently suited to larger homes, however if you have a smaller home with an attached garage or other suitable installation location then an Ecogen boiler could be the right choice for your household.
Condensing Combination Boiler
Combination boilers are economical to run and are able to produce an endless supply of hot water to a busy household, delivering hot water at the same speed as your cold taps. As the Combi boiler heats water directly from the mains, there is no need to wait for a storage cylinder to heat up, meaning you won’t run out of hot water. There’s also no need for a cold water storage tank, meaning a Combination boiler is perfect for households limited on space.
Considerations: The hot water flow from a Combi boiler is dependant on mains pressure and may be limited if other taps are running at the same time.
Condensing Conventional Boiler
A Conventional boiler system has two water tanks in the loft, a large ‘cold water storage tank’, drawing water from the cold water mains to refill, and a small ‘feed and expansion tank’. Water from the storage tank feeds cold water down to the cylinder, normally in the airing cupboard, which is then heated by the condensing central heating boiler to convert cold water to hot. The instant and fast flow of hot water is one of the main advantages of a Conventional boiler, alongside the use of an airing cupboard and backup electric hot water heating.
Considerations: The two tanks required for a Conventional boiler take up extra space and there is a limited amount of hot water produced at one time by the cylinder.
